Grow Together

If you want to get off to a good start in a foreign country, you need reliable contacts. This is the heart of our „Grow Together“ program. We help young people from Vietnam to get settled in Germany, in civil society where solidarity is created.

The Engagementstiftung Sachsen (Engagement Foundation Saxony) is creating a network to make a way for young people from South Vietnam to come to Germany for voluntary service. They get connected with the sponsors of Saxony’s voluntary services and get to know the language, country and people in the process.

Our goal is that the young people perform voluntary service and then move on to an apprenticeship or studies; which helps to counter the shortage of skilled labor long-term.

The decisive advantage is that there is contact with German civil society from the very first minute; nobody is left to themselves. And it’s not about profit but stable partnerships. The Engagementstiftung Sachsen is all about accompanying applicants and networking them with voluntary services. That’s how we succeed in growing together.

Additionally, there is already the widest range of partners in Saxony who have years of experience. The German-Vietnamese exchange has grown steadily. Through this cooperation, it was possible to build a kindergarten, elementary school and high school out of a private hospital. At the same time, a functioning exchange of skilled workers has been established. We are drawing on this experience as we intend to intensify the contact.

Who can get involved?

All sponsors of Saxony’s voluntary services and social organizations of civil society that have the intention of creating a place for young people from Vietnam between the ages of 16 and 27 to volunteer.

How does it work?

A young person from Vietnam who is interested in the program gets in contact with Future Group in Cao Lanh. The cooperation partner in Đồng Thap accompanies the young person in Vietnam to find a suitable place to perform voluntary service in Saxony. To prepare them as well as possible for volunteering in Saxony, they are also supported in learning German and applying for their visa for voluntary service in Germany.

Who belongs to the network?

In Saxony, all sponsors of Saxony’s voluntary services, the Sächsische Jugendstiftung (Saxon Youth Foundation) and the Engagementstiftung Sachsen are part of the network. In Đồng Thap, the project is supported by the People’s Committee and the organization Future Group. Future Group is a recognized partner of the Saxon cooperation network and the only partner.
